Safe Use of UV Coatings

Safe use of UV Coatings

UV coatings can be very harmful to skin and eyes if proper care is not taken by applicators. For this, a few simple precautions must be followed in order to ensure safe usage of UV curable materials.

  1. Long exposure of UV curable products to skin/eyes can cause hypersensitivity and should be avoided.
  2. Most ingredients of UV coatings pre-cure are harmful to the environment and proper instructions towards disposal should be followed as per product MSDS.
  3. Always wear protective gloves and clothing.
  4. Protective skin cream may be used prior to the use of these products.
  5. Clothes soaked in UV products must be immediately removed and avoid any further contact with skin.
  6. If there is skin contact of the product, it must be cleansed immediately with soap and water. Do not use any solvent-based cleaners.
  7. UV curable products must be stored under cool storage conditions away from any direct sources of light.
  8. Coating systems should be cleaned with proper cleaning systems (UV Wash, etc.) and hot water.
  9. Clothes or other material that have come in contact with UV curable products must not be disposed off with regular waste.
  10. UV curable products should never be disposed off with regular water or sewage systems, as they are very harmful in water.
  11. Please follow all instructions mentioned in the product’s MSDS.
