UV coatings can be very harmful to skin and eyes if proper care is not taken by applicators. For this, a few simple precautions must be followed in order to ensure safe usage of UV curable materials.
- Long exposure of UV curable products to skin/eyes can cause hypersensitivity and should be avoided.
- Most ingredients of UV coatings pre-cure are harmful to the environment and proper instructions towards disposal should be followed as per product MSDS.
- Always wear protective gloves and clothing.
- Protective skin cream may be used prior to the use of these products.
- Clothes soaked in UV products must be immediately removed and avoid any further contact with skin.
- If there is skin contact of the product, it must be cleansed immediately with soap and water. Do not use any solvent-based cleaners.
- UV curable products must be stored under cool storage conditions away from any direct sources of light.
- Coating systems should be cleaned with proper cleaning systems (UV Wash, etc.) and hot water.
- Clothes or other material that have come in contact with UV curable products must not be disposed off with regular waste.
- UV curable products should never be disposed off with regular water or sewage systems, as they are very harmful in water.
